Elevate students will begin to create their post-secondary visions; like-minded groups will discuss steps along their common paths and reflect on the value of creating plans that are aligned with their talents and interests.

Elevate students will create three separate paths toward their life goal and contact those in similar careers for helpful tips; groups will discuss landmark steps and possible barriers to overcome along the way.

Elevate students will compare the advantages and disadvantages of moving away after finishing school versus staying in the community, and discuss how relationships and personal values factor into their decision about work habitats.

Elevate students will brainstorm benefits of internships, complete a project that compares “interns” to “newbies,” discuss the roles of good communication and giving your best, and apply those skills to all areas of their lives.

Elevate students will analyze what “personal brands” are and the importance of creating one; groups will create brands and provide feedback, compare the brand-building methods used and practice sharing tag lines or vision statements.

  • Students will discuss why it’s important to share values, interests and passions with others.

Elevate students will discuss what they know about their future paths’ costs, conduct group research to get specific information, simulate negotiating skills and write out a plan for funding their future paths.

  • Students will write a plan for negotiating to cover the costs of their future paths (college, trade school, etc.).
